Long time lurker reporting in. I have been getting into long range shooting lately and I have a spotting scope,  however at longer ranges it's not cutting it anymore when I try to see my groups. I was wondering what you guys on LTT could come up with on a budget of 200 USD or less.

Here is a link to a diy one. And another link to a company one.

So you need a big lens? The 300mm kit lens I have for my dslr and that has some good range, but I don't know if it's that great for what you need. There's also an open source telescope I saw on Instagram http://www.openspaceagency.com/ultrascope/ also probably not great for your situation, but it's a thought.

I need to be able to see holes in paper from bullets at up to 1000 yards. Which is why a remote target camera exists. Plus I don't have a dslr camera laying around.

You can't get like a 40x tripod mounted telescope type thing for less than $200?

I built something similar last winter when I was trying to catch a poacher, I have a bunch of trail cams but needed a long range live video feed and didn't want to spend much.  I had it on the back gate to my property which is about 2500' from my house and it actually worked really well.  I had everything besides the transmitter and receiver but the following list is right around $200.

Transmitter/receiver - https://www.amazon.com/SainSonic-2-4GHz-Wireless-Transmitter-Receiver/dp/B00G4S2CR6/ref=pd_lpo_236_tr_t_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=FDKYP6Z1ZF30AZ1VCPVN

Camera - you could probably find something better because you don't need night vision but I had 8 of the older version of this camera from when I upgraded the CCTV system at my shop and they have a really clear picture in daylight - https://www.amazon.com/Q-See-QM1201B-1000TVL-Bullet-Camera/dp/B0123C87Q6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1474433419&sr=8-2&keywords=qsee+camera

BNC to RCA adapter to connect the camera to the transmitter - https://www.amazon.com/Valley-Enterprises®-Female-Cable-Adapters/dp/B002A65U98/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1474433721&sr=8-5&keywords=bnc+to+rca

For power I used a deep cycle marine battery on the transmitter/camera side that lasted almost a week before it needed charging so a couple small 12v AGM batteries should should be more than enough - https://www.amazon.com/Verizon-PX12072-HG-KEYKO-Rechargeable-Terminal/dp/B01EQZZL6W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474431776&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=12v%2Bbattery&smid=A2DQTZXOKQTIW5&th=1

I had the receiver in my house hooked up to a regular TV but something like this should work pretty good but I would definitely make a sun shade for it- https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Monitor-Parking-Support-Definition/dp/B019GQS3UC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1474432231&sr=8-4&keywords=12v+monitor

Also that would seem to work but it wont when your trying to see 30 caliber holes at 1000 yards. I have tried it

Don't they use those things on the battlefield to figure out where a sniper's shots are going?
