So for a few weeks now every time I start my computer it gives me a prompt asking how I would like to open a file, and I have different programs to choose from of course. Tried opening the mystery start up file with Media Player, but it wouldn't work. Then I figured it was a pdf for some reason, didn't work either. Finally recently I tried a simple text document and I got the file i have attached. Upon making this thread I noticed it says "Nox_unload.exe" as well as a file destination at the end that doesn't exist. Nox is an android emulation program I had installed a little while ago but figured it to be completely uninstalled (I think it was called "bignox" for anyone interested). Basically I want this prompt to go away and any help in doing so would be appreciated, it doesnt seem all too serious as its a simple ping command but the prompt is certainly annoying. The file auto called itself "Arthur" which is my first name.

run malwarebytes and a few online scanners (emsisoft, eset, bitdefender, herdprotect, basically any non rouge av you can get your hands on)

I have done so since the problem has occurred and nothing has been found, but I'll run it again. My assumption is that the program didn't fully uninstall itself so I looked for any files relating to it and deleted them. I'm also going to clean the registry via CCleaner just to make sure.

Wow adwcleaner found 55 things (mostly registry) thanks for the suggestion. I figured maleware bytes was enough but I guess not. I'm gonna run jrt as well when I find and research that program. Thanks for the help so far.

lol np. do you run an antivirus (if not, do you run windows 10?)

Yes I've had avast on here since day one, I've not been very happy with it recently.

yeah avast is awful. detection rates are bang average and it makes ur pc slow af. if you have windows xp-8.1 get bitdefender free, if you run 10 get something like avira

And...if its NOT nothing... lets just assume it is...right?

OP @RiskyBiscuit

You should be able to see whats starting at startup, and where that file is located.

Whats listed in your Startup options?

Do you know how to check?

Open Task Manager and go to the Startup Tab.

Is there ANYTHING in there that looks OUT of place... (Or just put a screenshot up for us to check)

If your familiar with Task manager...Is there anything under the "Details" tab , (It's a process list, whats currently running, what its using)

Anything seem iffy or using lots of resources

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I did some more research into the matter and found that this is simply an issue with a file being placed in the wrong folder. The file that has been giving me issues is in my C: Drive under the "users" folder. Found the little bastard! Haha thanks so much for help with this particular problem, upvotes for everyone!

Well oddly enough I was having some more issues, decided to press the nuke button (albeit wit added cushion and comfort) with the windows 10 reset option. Having to reinstall all my games and more is going to be a pain but at least the pictures music settings ect. Is still all there.
