I am really confused between different options for mobo and PC case. My priority is cool and quiet performance. No flashy things just simple design.

location- India

Budget- Around 1400$

Any advice, suggestion and feedback is appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

i7 with a GTX1060 ?! does not compute

and it's even the old i7

Considering my workflow , software I use are more CPU dependent and can benefit from GPU to some extend. I went for MSI only for its quiet performance and latest architecture. I could even consider any other Nvidia card with enough CUDA cores.

Initially I was considering 6700K, but most of the buddies on the forum over here advised me to go for 5820K instead considering extra cores and good for OC. 6700K is good for gaming and single threaded performance. 6800K is other high end option but having heating issues and bad for OC.

Windows 7?

I have been using windows 7 for a long time with no issues. For some reason win 10 doesn't look nice and find it kind of inconvenient to use.  I might upgrade to win 10 in future but for now win 7 is good.

Windows 7 was last updated 5 years ago

Windows 8.1 was last updated 2 years ago

Windows 10 was last updated 6 days ago

Windows 7 Mainstream Support ended 2 years ago

Windows 8.1 Mainstream Support will end in 1 year

Windows 10 Mainstream Support will end in 5+ years

Windows 7 Extended Support will end in 3 years

Windows 8.1 Extended Support will end in 6 years

Windows 10 Extended Support will end in 10+ years

Windows 10 is also (apparently) the last Windows, and will be upgraded in incremental upgrades.

Windows 10 is the future of Windows.

Yeah buddy. Thanks for detailed explanation. I would probably go for win 10 then. I read somewhere win 7UI can be used on win10 with some third party plug ins or something. I am not exactly sure. I love win7 UI that's the reason to go for it.

You're probably talking about Classic Shell: http://www.classicshell.net/

I used it on my Windows 8.1 laptop, though not on my Windows 10 Laptop because Windows 10 UI is very similar to Windows 7 UI.

Yes buddy, you are right. I think i will go for win 10 only. Its future proof.

PC case- I also came across

Carbide Series® Air 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case

and

Graphite Series™ 760T Arctic White Full-Tower

I really like the Air 540. I am little concerned with its hot swappable drive feature though. Is there any disadvantage having it?
