Kinda strange problem

Lolucoca

My friend brought me a P5VD1-X to fix. And I tried everything. I've tried 3 sets of RAM, used different slots, used PCI, PCIe as well as AGP graphics cards, swapped CPU's around, reset the CMOS a couple of times, disconnected everything, I've tried everything. But it just doesn't produce any video. I'm pretty sure the motherboard and the BIOS are fine since they produce a beep code whenever no RAM/GPU is installed. There are no dead caps, no bent pins, the battery is at an acceptable 2.87V. My friend told me that this happened after he installed a new CPU and hard drive (the CPU is compatible according to ASUS). I really don't know what to do now. Any help is appreciated! :D

yup, there is no damage to the CPU (not even oxidation) and there is also no (obvious) damage to any component on the motherboard.

i'd check the back and take one of those rulers that has the little levelling thing on it (the capsule of water with an air bubble) and make sure its not bent

i am honestly stumped. Another thing i could think of is just plugging in the mobo, and wearing full length rubber gloves (the kind you use for washing dishes or electricians gloves if you have them) and testing everything with an mulitmeter

I already did that. With both an oscilloscope and a multimeter. Everything gets power and all the voltage regulation seems to work fine, just like the clock signals :P

There's no video. But it produces beep codes whenever I trigger a certain error. So the BIOS and the CPU are fine. The only real problem could be the north bridge since none of the graphics cards work.

the mobo doesn't have onboard graphics ports right? You need to use a gpu to get video onto a monitor

@gtx1060=value Yup :P

@greenwolf24 I tried with a Geforce FX 5200, an HD 9250, an S3 Trio64 (the PCI card), an HD 4670 and an HD 9800. All of those with 512MB, 1GB, 2GB and 4GB of RAM.

@greenwolf24 Nah, I tested all of them on my other system and they worked perfectly fine.

i believe it may be the fact that the system ram is only running on ddr,

looking at the clock speeds for the ram it appears that the system ram is almost slower than the graphics ram,

i think this might be causing trouble because the card isnt getting what it has to display fast enough so it just doesnt work

@greenwolf24 The cards ran on an Athlon XP with DDR ram, so that shouldn't be the problem. :P

Before you ask, the RAM modules are all officially compatible
