HELP!!! GPU Isn't Working Properly

Go to solution Solved by Choy188,

its a common noob mistake

I just got a custom pre-built pc and when I started to play I noticed something odd the games are slow as crap then I check afterburner then it shows me that the Msi Gtx 1060 is only using 4 percent of its power and the intel graphics were doing all the work. The GPU is Being Detected by device manager. When I overclocked the GPU Had no change at all not even in Temp Or In Voltage. The only thing that seems to respond is the fans that's it.

CPU:I5-6600

GPU:MSI GTX 1060 GAMING X 6GB

RAM:8GB 2133Mhz GSKILL RIPJAWS

Reinstall the Nvidia drivers and see if that helps. Use DDU to uninstall the old drivers and install the newest from Nvidia.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

Try checking if your power supply is connected properly, that can be an issues if the builder of the machine was in a hurry to connect the cables. Just try unplugging and plugging the GPU power cable again. If that does not work. See if it is well seated in the motherboard. Also, go to NVIDIA control panel and see if it is using the graphics card at all, you should be able to change it in the settings. Hope this helps.

What do you mean

There are two DVI/HDMI/whatever you're using outputs, one on the motherboard IO (the vertical one), and one on the GPU (the horizontal one). Which one is your screen cable plugged into?
