Overclocking software tips

Hey, today i was wondering around in town and found this medium sized pc shop that only sold gaming pc hardware and accesesories. And i started talking to this overclocking genious and i was asking him about overclocking and how to get started and bla bla bla. He told me that for me to get my 780 to go higher than 1150 MHz (witch he called shit speed as a joke) i had to install somethings like a custom bios, msi afterbourner tweak and something i didnt know what was that unlocked nvidias lock on my gpu.

so my question is

*what custom bios do you recomend for a asus z87 tuf motherboard (dont know if i need it or not, i want to overclock the MHz as high as possible and the voltage just a little bit. And boost my cpu up to 4,4-6 GHz)

*i dont know what the name of the msi afterburner tweak is named, can you help?

*name of the software that unlocks Nvidias lock?

Thanks for the help<3

Ehm... are you talking about overclocking your processor of your graphics card?

If the graphics card, then use MSI Afterburner. That is the name of the program.

For the processor, I suggest to take a look in this section of the forum. Maybe there are other people with the same question. Processor overclocking is done through the BIOS and I am certain that you don't need a "custom" BIOS for yours.

I hope this helped a bit.

shenanigans, the only reason you might need a custom bios is if your GPU has a voltage limit like mine does, and the bios he's referring to is the bios for the GPU itself not the motherboard. Your motherboard already supports overclocking so you don't need a new bios, 4.6Ghz should be easy if you have a decent chip and sufficient cooling. You should read through your manual before you try anything though.

one that probably doesn't exist yet, I'm far from an expert on the subject so someone else will have to chime in if you want to know more.
