Caution:  The NH-L12 is a low-profile quiet cooler designed for use in small form factor cases and HTPC environments. While it provides first rate performance in its class, it is not suitable for overclocking and should be used with care on CPUs with more than 95W TDP (Thermal Design Power). Please consult our TDP guidelines to find out whether the NH-L12 is recommended for your CPU.

That guy runs it with HT off and get's colder temps than i do under load and i run a full watercooled setup in a 4930k.

Still wondering why noctua chose such an ugly to use on their products. If they did better colors and some col designs they would go a lot farther.

Nah, they're have most recognizable fans due to the colors. It's great marketing.

A different cpu is being tested and in different conditions likely on an open test bench. The results aren't comparable.

Their logo is an owl so they went with owl colors, I'm guessing.

Actually, they'd probably be less well-known and successful if they used standard colors.

The Xeon E5640 is an 80W TDP processor. It may be possible but it depends on the guy's setup.

But to put in perspective, I have a 65W TDP processor with a 95W TDP low profile cooler with a 92mm fan. When I run it through its paces, it can go up to and sustain about 3.7GHz without breaking 65C.

Though if I use Prime95, it'll go down to 3.4GHz... again without going above 65C. It really doesn't like breaking that value.

I have one of those because the Corsair Spec-03 mid-tower is a tiny f***er that doesn't have much room for anything else (and the Evo 212 didn't come with AMD mounting, which they took 3 months to send me the correct replacements for). Runs great.

Watercooling is a potential better cooling method for sure, but the point where it really outperforms aircooled is far more costly then a very good aircooler that can still gain very good OC results.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

I think if they at least offered the option of a more neutral colour, louder industrial fans aside, it would be appreciated. I don't have a windowed case to show of the beige, but if I did it would have seriously made me reconsider getting something other than Noctua cooler.

For me i care more about how cool my PC is runing and how efficient, the brown is not so bad if you run a beige case :D

Anyone know a beige case that fit's an X79 setup? :P
