So, am about to build my first PC and I definitely got way more than I needed.  I really wish that I had started here before I did anything.  It's just kind of easy to start picking parts on PCPartpicker.com, but oh well.  Just wanted your thoughts on it anyway.... I was thinking of upgrading the CPU Master with the Corsair H100i v2.  Not sure if it is needed - as it would mostly be for looks, I think.  With the case I picked, and the big window, might look better.

So, I do some gaming on a 4K monitor, and we do a lot of photo/video editing - thus the need for excessive storage.  I do not plan to run the HDDs in RAID at all - I'll make external backups, as those will mostly be used for storage.  To be honest, none of the parts are open yet - so I could return some for others, I suppose, if it made sense.

Overkill for sure.  But still hoping you might give me some advice, nonetheless.

Why do you need that much of storage space??

It would be better to buy a gtx 1080 instead of 1070 & have less storage.

Trust me, I hear you.  But I already have 6TBs of data that I'll be transferring to this PC.  It will go fairly quickly.  I could always go for the better video card now, and buy another HDD in the future... but is the gtx 1080 really that much better than the 1070?

For 4k content, yes it is better than 1070.

They're like $200 more for just the card.  Add another $75 for the cooler - and yes, that is the cost of the HDD.  I suppose that is something that I could do.  But, will the 1070 work with 4K?  I'm not gaming all the time - just in my spare time...which is not that often....

As a noob, can you explain why this would be superior to my build?  I don't understand how the parts work together, I suppose.  X99 is an updated Mobo...and the 1080 is upgraded from the 1070 (obviously)... but how much more superior?

5820K has 6 cores and 12 threads instead of 6700k's 4 cores and 8 threads. It's simply up to over 30% faster overall. And this could come in handy for photo/video editing etc.

1080 is the only single card that's able to max out all games at 4K at playable framerates around 60FPS, excluding Titan XP and dual-GPU cards.
