Hello guys,:D

Just wanted to check out if this forum has any people playing around with ableton?
I am new to producing but would really love to learn how to get my musical mind transfered into a program.
VST's and other starter packs? im kinda clueless, watching youtube vids and trying to copy what others do to get a hang of it.
Thankful for any help.

(not an expert warning)

From my experience at least, experimentation is key, used to mess around with this stuff, although I don't remember shit about it anymore. I should honestly get back into it though, and maybe take it to new levels. Just haven't had the motivation, something that is really hard to get when this stuff is very intimidating to new users who haven't even seen what the program looked like before. I just remember watching videos on the basics, and how to be, I guess sort of productive with plugins (or VSTs, call them what you will) that I was interested in, and of course the DAW itself. After that it was really experimenting and screwing around A LOT until I figured out how to use things better. Like I said though, I did also watch videos to get a basic grasp on how to use the software instead of clicking random buttons, but when it came to plugins (VSTs) I just installed a lot of different ones that caught my interest and that I thought would be very useful to have, and from that point I messed with them until I got stuff that I thought sounded good.

I'm no expert, and take everything with a grain of salt, but I guess it's a start. Maybe this method will work wonders for you, maybe it won't. I think if I kept at music production stuff I could have gotten good, but then I stopped doing it because it got boring to me, which I'm sure everyone deals with because of how time consuming it can be.

And yes, expect it to be extremely time consuming. It takes a very long time to get really good and efficient with everything.

As for obtaining them, if you're really unsure then "try before you buy", which I don't promote by the way. But at the same time it's not worth spending hundreds of dollars on stuff you might not be into.
