Adobe Illustrator, closing Paths with predefined Handles

Heya, hope there are more Adobe Illustrator users here, as I'm facing an issue that's not program breaking, but does just hinder the workflow.

 

When I predefine Handles of a Path that I'm making by click-dragging and try to close the Path, the first Handle gets deleted, as seen in this *.gif.

Exactly my face when I run into this issue...

 

Been looking in the Tool's settings and in the Global Settings (Ctrl + K), but I haven't been able to find anything to change the behavior.

 

Anyone know if it is possible to change this? Thanks in advance.
