My thoughts is that AIB cards from good vendors are great, I'd recomend EVGA if you like the looks. Gigabyte I don't personally like but they're fairly cheap, Zotac too.

 

And for 1440p gaming yes it absolutely can do it. For example I can maintain 50 to 60 FPS on Witcher 3 maxed out (except hairworks) 1440p no problems. Just a few settings get you to 60 fps constant too.

 

That's one of the most demanding games so yeah it is great for 1440p.

Generally, they're all just fine for 1440p gaming. Higher factory overclocks generally carry a higher price tag, but these cards often have better coolers for even more overclocking. Factory overclocks won't make or break anything in most cases, so I'd just go with whatever fits your build and your budget, really. I've used cards from EVGA, Zotac, and MSI, and I haven't been disappointed with any of them.
