Switching primary display device to DGPU

Hey guys, so I just bought a Lenovo thinkpad Yoga, but it has a serious issue. It fold backwards into tablet mode, but there seems to be a display issue. Whenever I place my hand on the screen to draw using the included pen the screen shuts off as if I shut the laptop. This is a huge issue, it literally makes it impossible to draw on the screen, which is why I got this laptop in the first place.

I have taken several steps to solve this problem, but nothing works. I have:

-Disable the screen off when the lid shuts

-updated my drivers

I have no idea if switching to the dGPU (940M) will fix this, but I would like to try. I feel that it's faulty hardware, but it might be a software issue.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? And for my main question, how would I go about disabling my integrated graphics to force the laptop to run the standard OS using the 940M.

Thanks guys :(
