hey yall

we had the acer p5280 for some years now but it begins to have a lot of dead pixels. probably because we need to step up our cooling game.

I looked for new dlp chips for this projector but i think its a better idea to just buy a new beamer instead of buying a chip for 200$.

I have no clue what i need but the p5280 was perfect.

our beamer sits behind us in a shelf under the seiling. Soooo the distance is about 4-10m i think aaaand. thats about it, dont know a lot about beamers but if you need me to get you more infos just tell me!

thx-y

Your budget is going to set your options. Most competitively priced products perform similarly from the big brands, so the differences are going to be minor between them. Stick to big names like Epson, BenQ, and maybe Acer and you should be fine.

Hey, that doesnt help at all haha. Budget isnt what's going to set my options. The specs are what I have to look out for, which one i buy is my problem but i need options.

Projectors range from $500 to $3,000 for 1080p or 4k-shift, while native 4k is going to run you about $10,000.

For 4k-shift (which is not native 4k), the Epson 5040 is your best option at $3,000. If you want 1080p, the "older" Epson 5030 is a superb example of a home projector. The 5030 was replaced by the 5040 in early August 2016. Make no mistake about it, the 5030 and the 5040 are the bulls-eye of the home theater market.

For 1080p at TV prices, the Epson 3020 is the sweet spot. I own one and I can run it during the day with some light leak without issues on brighter scenes. Very dark movies are okay, but the contrast is definitely lacking. At night there are zero issues. All of my guests have been impressed with the quality of this theater. Even in ECO mode, it's bright and very quiet. Unfortunately it doesn't come with lens-tilt, so it's a little annoying to position. But once I set it up, it works flawlessly.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, the Epson 2040 is okay. Not really. I wouldn't buy it, but it's a projector that works. It just has very poor detail in the blacks. It is also very hard to position as it lacks lens-tilt.

I'm not an Epson salesman, they are just the most common on the market. Any comparably priced BenQ should perform similarly. But BenQ and Acer have not yet released 4k or 4k-shift models.
