1. is it really worth it 

2. would my pc get hotter with the sound proof foam inside

As long as the foam isn't covering air intake/exhaust it shouldn't make a noticeable difference.

The kits don't do much unless your components are already extremely quiet. 

If you want a quieter system, deal with components that are too loud first.
