Hello,

I am building my new pc this days and so far I have everything bit the gpu. The specs so far are: i7 6700k, msi M5 motherboard, evga 750W psu, 16GB or ram, 450GB SSD and a phanteks case. I choose a Dell u3415w as my monitor and now I try to choose my gpu.

My dyllima is the following one. To have one 1070 to start with or to go for an older solution and have two 970 in sli, bying one now and the second one after some time.

I am planning to use my pc for design and gaming, mostly rally and fps, and I quoted like to have an average of at list 60fps.

Thanks for your time and I am sorry for the long post. I am waiting your answers

1070 is way better choice then any SLI combo. SLI can be a pain. Also power consumtion is a concern, just like the "3,5GB" of VRAM on the 970 will be an issue with ultra wide resolution.

Average of at least 60fps at 3440x1440?

Sounds like GTX 1080

Spend about as much on the display as the graphics card is general rule of thumb

I know but a 1080 now is way out of my budget... A future update to a second 1070is more likely...

980Ti runs ultrawide 1440 pretty damn well. If you wanna run everything ultra with all the AA then yeah. A 1070 will be fine tho

Needs money for car parts :P

True every game is different... Games like dirt, Battlefield, need for speed for example. I know the more demanding games,  like crysis will have way less fps. As long as they are playable is OK for me.  For the beginning at list ?

More vram the better. The Division(just the most recent game I've played) for instance never caps 7gb on my titan x in 3440 x 1440.
So obviously the 10 series is the way to go.

"The wheel?" "No thanks, I'll walk, its more natural" - thus was the beginning of the doom of the Human race.
Cheese monger.

Looks like I have to go for a 1070 for better performance and to be a bit more future proof... By the way has anyone knows a company named galax??? They have here in UK a nice offer for a 1070...  Here is the link http://www.galax.com/en/graphics-card/10-series/galax-geforcer-gtx-1070-exoc.html

I've used galax before, when they were called galaxy.  They make good stuff.  Anyway, the 1080 is better suited for 3440x1440 if your target is 60 fps.  That gpu will allow you to max out games (minus AA, usually keep that lower) and hit that target fps.   The 1070 might struggle.  Either way you want the 8GB of vram.  So, don't go below a 1070. I'd personally go with a 1080 over a 1070 (I'd get two 1080s, but that's just me).

Thrive on change. Embrace volatility.

Sure 1080 is the best choice but to expensive... In sli even more. ?I think I will go for 1070 and maybe in the future  one more. Looks more logical for my current build
