I would get the R9 290X if the benchmarks are as good as they seem. Also, are you going to be doing anything else but gaming, such as using Adobe apps or 3D modeling?

Eh, not really, maybe some casual photoshop every now and then, but nothing that would actually make me money.

290X is for sure the better choice then. Sometimes people use programs that use CUDA much more efficiently than OpenCL so I asked to be sure.

Specific aftermarket cooler you recommend getting? I really like the reference design, but I figure it probably isn't the best for cooling.
