Ethernet issues, PLEASE HELP

My setup:

Netgear wifi extender with ethernet port

5m cat5e rj45 cable going into pc

 

My problem:

Keeps dcing if I don't plug the cable in, anyone got any help? Sorry for not enough detail but I haave to type this fast before internet times out, thanks!

it would be helpful if you posted the exact model as netgear has a few.

I believe it's the WN3000RP.

are you trying to set it up with the web GUI? and if so does your main router have WPS?

Hey man sorry for not replying yesterday, thanks for all your help, but  I got it fixed, I just realised I was doing something really dumb. I had a WiFi adapter plugged in so I could connect to the WiFi (duh) and forgot to remove it before plugging in the ethernet cable, so it was causing a raucous. Thanks for your help again, though!
