First boot procedures? Help setting up?

Hey all,

Im not sure if this is in the right section but I have recently got my motherboard back from it being RMA'd because it was DOA. What a bummer to have on my first build, ha and I bought this build 1 year and a half or so ago and never got around to fixing it, anyways my problem is that some of the drives I have show up in My Computer but sometimes they dont. Several times the pc has just done what it wants but I want to set it up so that the file structure is the way I want and not a default way. I guess im asking for some help in doing this as it is my first time building and booting a PC and wanted the knowledge to do so correctly. My drives are 3 Ocz Agility3 120GB SSDs, a 3TB Green WD HDD. I also have a smaller hard drive in a old prebuilt pc that i may take out at a later stage. The way i want to format the hard drives is this.

  1. OS & Boot >> 120GB SSD
  2. Steam games + Selected programs >> 120GB SSD /OR/ 2 120GB SSDs in RAID or "combined"
  3. Possibly another OS Linux or OSX depends if i can get OSX working on my setup as I would like to try a hackintosh but i dont think it would work with my setup. If not that I would use it with the Steam + Programs Drive.
  4. BackUp >> 3TB WD Green as a backup for all these drives
  5. Documents >> possibly on my smaller 600GB? drive later on when i get more connectors.

My mobo is a Gigabyte x79 ud7 and I will install Win7 on the drives then update to Win8 once i have updated necessary drivers/apps that are only on disks.

Thanks for your helps! -Llamas

I'm not sure what kind of help you need.

I'm guessing install updated drivers?
