GPU driver installation failure

Wow, just wow....

I checked AMD gaming evolved to see if it would work and this time it installed without any problem

Are they really FORCING people to install this shitty program now-a-days.

FFS AMD, step up your game

Hi guys,

I have a pretty massive problem: My AMD drivers won't install.

Here's what happened:

I had 16.8.3 installed on my pc up until 1 hour ago when I saw there was a new update; 16.9.1

I proceeded to uninstall the current driver with DDU in safe mode, and after that I tried to install 16.9.1.

It gives me an error (which I'll add as a photo to this post), and I'm like: 'Hmm, that's strange, but I'll carry on with the installation'.

So the installation continues, and after it's done it says the driver installation has failed.

Pretty weird, but I reboot anyways, to be welcomed by no radeon settings at all. Everything seems to have been installed except for radeon settings. (when I go to MSI afterburner for example, it says I'm on 16.9.1)

I then proceeded to uninstall the drivers again with DDU in safe mode and install it again; same error, same fail.

After that I downloaded the old 16.7.3 drivers, and guess what? They failed too with the same error.

So for some magical reason no single driver can be installed at the moment which is pretty infuriating.

Does anybody know a fix for this?

My specs:

Reference Sapphire rx 480 8GB

i5-6500

8GB ram

Windows 10 x64

Hopefully somebody can help me with this, cause I can't do anything at all right now

OS up to date? Make sure Windows 10 hasn't "installed" any "driver". It likes to do that under your noise :D

OS is up to date, and I disabled windows 10 driver updates through DDU to prevent it installing something it isn't supposed to install

My problem has been with drivers is not having the GPU installed.

So your card might not be recognized.

Hmmm. Clean the drivers again but this time also clean the Intel HD drivers. Then, download the drivers again from AMD's site. Try the original driver you had.

Or this. If the above doesn't work - reseat the GPU

My GPU is being recognized by the installer program.

I enabled everything to be isntalled except for amd gaming evolved which I obviously don't want

Could this have caused the issue?

Try installing the full package edition (from AMD's site) and then remove what you don't need. Also, in the future - just overlap drivers. As long as you haven't changed the GPU, it should work perfectly fine.

Nah, it installs fine without it for me on Windows 8.1 and a friend of mine on 7. It's likely a Windows 10 thing (as per usual)
