For £300ish, you won't find 144Hz / 1440p / 27" anyway. 60Hz should be more in that price range. But imo, if you're relatively close to your monitor, 25" is THE sweet spot for 1440p. The pixel density is really nice for a crispy look, but with 27", you'll get closer to the feel of 21-22" 1080p in terms of crispiness which is frustrating for me. You'll find great 24-25" displays for less than 300£ for sure. First one that comes to mind with an awesome IPS panel is this one from Dell. But if you want lower response time, go for a TN (even though IPS are really decent when it comes to response time nowadays).
