Time for more RAM?

Do you guys think its time for me to get another 8Gb of RAM? I already have 8 but theres only like 3Gb left after windows takes over

It wouldn't be a bad shout. Also some games are recommending 16gb now

Well, if you have the money to get more ram, not a bad idea. Though take your time browsing to get the best price you can.

If you have 3GB "after Windows takes over", which I'm assuming that's how much memory is taken up after a reboot, I'd worry about what's going on in your system other than getting more RAM first because you shouldn't be sitting at that much usage after a reboot.

U should rather figure out first what is consuming so much ram in your PC. Upgrading ram is a good idea though. More memory is always better :-)

Most games in 2016 are already asking for more Ram, so if you have the money you can get another 8gb for less 50 dollars

Check for backround processes that are eating your RAM. Do a clean install of windows if its just windows eating the ram. 5/8 GB for the OS is waaaaaay too much ram. If you can afford it get another stick of 8GB simply to get dual channel speed (asuming you only have a single stick of 8 and your mobo & cpu support dual channel)

If you think you're having performance issues due to memory limitations, maybe. Windows using 3 GB on a fresh boot sounds like maybe you have a lot of background/startup programs and services enabled, but even that doesn't necessarily mean you'll have any issues in real games since most of that background stuff will just get shoveled into virtual memory anyway.

But windows doesn't use 3Gb. It uses like 5Gb

Sorry, I read that wrong, but that makes it sound even more like there's probably something going on with your system. You're telling me that if you reboot your system and then check Task Manager with nothing else running, you only have 3 GB free? Can you post a screenshot of your Processes tab?

16GB is what you want in a proper rig! But for laptops I guess 8 is fine for now...
