Watercooled GPU

Hey guys!

 

I am looking to upgrade my rig soon(ish). And I am planning to watercool the whole thing sooner or later. So here's my question:

 

Would it be worth getting a Geforce GX 1080 that is NOT Nvidias reference design? Are there any noticable differences between the reference design and partner solutions when I start watercooling them? And if so, which 1080 would you suggest?

 

Please do keep in mind, that I am not going to watercool the rig right away, since my budget is somewhat thight at the moment, and I want to do a proper watercooling loop and not half-ass anything.
