Hi all,

I had a friend build a computer for me a few year ago, which included:

  • gtx 760
  • Antec VP550F 550w

  • i5-4670k

  • Vengeance LP 2x4gb ram

  • gigabyte z87x-hd3

  • 1tb hard drive + 250gb ssd

  • antec p100 case (im pretty sure)

I don't really know what I'm doing, but I recently added a second 760 and upgraded to an EVGA supernova 650 gs to support it.

I'm at college and will be travelling home a lot- how hard would it be to put this system in a (much?) smaller case? Any suggestions would be extremely helpful

With 2 GPUs and a I think ATX case, you'll be looking at something not much smaller.

i7-6700k  Cooling: Deepcool Captain 240EX White GPU: GTX 1080Ti EVGA FTW3 Mobo: AsRock Z170 Extreme4 Case: Phanteks P400s TG Special Black/White PSU: EVGA 850w GQ Ram: 64GB (3200Mhz 16x4 Corsair Vengeance RGB) Storage 1x 1TB Seagate Barracuda 240GBSandisk SSDPlus, 480GB OCZ Trion 150, 1TB Crucial NVMe

Take a look at this picture of the P100. You can see it could in theory be about the DVD-drive's thickness' worth lower, maybe that and a half. And roughly as much shorter. So, say, 5-7cm less in both directions. If that's much to you, then maybe FD Core 2300 would suit you. I myself had a huge travel case back when I bothered taking my rig with me to my friends'. It had two door handles for carrying grips and wheels from a desk chair to roll on. I also had a 20-inch CRT monitor so in hindsight the case wasn't that big a deal.

Have you taken a look at the CR1080? How small of a case did you need?

That size seems great- do you think it has room for 2 graphics cards and a master cooler 212 cpu cooler?

Any thoughts on the Cooler Master HAF XB EVO?

The CR1080 only supports coolers up to 120mm and the Hyper 212 is too tall for that.

The HAF XB EVO is usually much larger than people anticipate. Either go see if for yourself if you haven't already or look at the specs and use a measuring stick to visualize how large is actually is. Check it out here compared to a mid tower.

Thanks for the tip- Yeah it is a lot bigger than I thought :o (although I'm a long time LTT viewer, I'm new to the forum and to PC parts)

I might end up just leaving my pc the way it is and dealing with the fact that I won't be able to compete during school breaks. Unless you can point out any pretty cheap but not terrible laptops to travel with.

So the issue with the CR1080 is the cooler height restriction? Is your current cooler the Hyper 212?

Yeah that and it looks like it barely fits one gpu, let alone 2- The idea of downsizing for travel was sort of a farfetched one, as I'd be traveling cross country with it. I was just sort of hoping someone would have a magic solution or something...

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to fit two graphics cards in the case.. o.O

In the video you linked, the second graphics card would have to fit above the first one and the glass outcropping ends directly above the first- am I wrong?

The graphics card would fit above the first and the bump on the side panel is for cable space. The graphics card should fit if it's reference height and the plug is at the end as opposed to the side--so I'm not sure whether they'll fit since you haven't described which model 760's you have.

It'd likely be a tight fit if it did at all. Hard to tell though since there aren't that many reviews or builds online with the case.
