Disable RAID 0 setup

Hello, I have two SSD's in a RAID 0 setup. But I want to use them as a single drive again. What is the best way to undo the RAID setup without ruining the drives?

 

I have backed up all the data that is stored on the RAID, so that is fixed.

Normally there is a raid screen when you boot that says something like press escape to cancel or control+I or something
You stop it from booting, then delete the "Raid volume" this essentially makes both drives useless
normally they would both be unbootable in the times ive tried it but hell maybe in yours they will boot
Either way you then have two drives ready to be used

You may want to make some windows install media or some bootable drive cloning program beforehand

When I'm home I'll check if there is something like a RAID screen. Is there also an option in the BIOS?

I have already installed the Windows 10 installer onto a 16GB USB-stick. So I got that covered

It all depends on your system. There may be option to change from RAID to AHCI in the BIOS but they may aswell be combined into one. So if you can, tunr on AHCI and see what happends. That might be enough.

If not, if they're enabled, turn off all functions in BIOS that speed up the boot process and it'll make the RAID control screen appear during boot. You'll see something like "Press CTRL+I to enter RAID setup" so do that and dismantle the array in there.

Who set up the raid on your system? and in most cases the Raid screen is the first thing to show up before any other Boot options.

The RAID was setup by a local computer shop about 3 years ago (or smth). But now I'm more experienced with computer hardware, I want to do it myself because I can't be ***ed to pay €x.xx and wait for 4 days before I have my computer back.

Yeah it depends, If its using intels raid system which is controlled by the CPU and built into most intel cpu motherboards then it normally has a very fast config screen between the bios and windows

If it uses raid that is built into the bios then yeah its all in the bios,

either way

1. unplug all drives except the ones with raid
2. open raid settings and hit delete volume/raid setup
