Laser Barcode Question

Quick question for you guys, are swipe barcode readers bidirectional? For example, if the barcode sequence is 01234567 and I swipe the card in reverse so that the numbers appear as 76543210, will they both be interpreted as the same?

They will read out the same. The barcode itself is duplicated in reverse halfway down the middle.

 

So if you swipe forward, or if you swipe reverse, the same code will be recognized.
