CPU Upgrade help

Hi, I have a Dell Precision 390. Right now, I am looking for a CPU upgrade for the machine. I have a Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 in there right now (1.86GHz) . A few questions,

1. Does it support the Intel Core 2 Duo E7500?

2. Does it support the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600?

3. Does it support the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650?

 

What is the fastest CPU I can put in this thing? (I do not care about price or price-to-performance)

Can you please state the mothboard used in it, If its the stock one as well as your area you live being all of this affects what MB came with he stock PC if you can't find the motherboard.

1,2,3 = yes. It should all support since your E6300 uses 775 socket

 

Best one for the socket is QX 9650, quad core @ 3.0 Ghz

You can overclock with QX 9650 but if your mobo doesn't support then a Q 9650 will work just fine

Hey there, sorry to ruin your fun, but I'm pretty sure the stock Dell chipset of that generation doesn't support the QX/Q9650, or any Quad Core for that matter.

 

So you're limited to single or dual cores (maybe get an extreme core 2 duo?)

@bob51zhangMy friend had a Precision 390, and he said he put a q6600 in there, but I do not know about the rest. I will buy all three, if they do not work, I will make a totally new computer with the processors.
