APC UPS Issue

Go to solution Solved by leadeater,

Could be a faulty battery or charging circuitry causing the issue. Or the new battery just needs some time to fully equalize but that's rather rare to cause the issue your having.

Disconnect the battery and check it's voltage, if it's a 12V then it should be around 11.8V to 12.8V. Let it sit disconnected for an hour or so and measure again, should only be about 0.5V less.

I have a APC Back UPS RS 1500. I do use the PowerChute Personal Edition (Because I like it better) ver 3.0.2. The issue is that with a new battery, the ups randomly goes on battery power even though there is still AC utility power. The AC power is within normal voltage, and my other APC UPS (RS 1000) does not go on battery power that much. I have tried re-calibrating it already. Any ideas? Reply if you need more info. The Minimum voltage is 104V, and the maximum is 128V.

Hey!

Does it have any settings for sensitivity?

Is the other UPS connected to the same circuit and does it experience the same fluctuation on voltage?

104v is rather low and 128v is very high!

Where I am now the mains voltage only really changes between 114-118v so I wouldn't be surprised if changes that wide set it off.

The other UPS is on the floor above the one with the problem and it has the same exact sensitivity and voltage setting as the one with the problem. My mains are usually 120-124 volts. the sensitivity settings are for electrical noise and no matter what setting, it does not change anything. 104V and 128V is the tightest i can do (the upses can do).
