Well,i've been upgrading my PC bit by bit, getting a new GPU a case is shipping as i write this.

Buuuut...One thing i never really thought about deeply or rather deeper than ''Its ram memory the more the better!''

So is that true?I was thinking of getting another stick of 4GBs of RAM,waste of money or smart upgrade?

Depends on how much you already have. 8GB I would say is the minimum for heavy duty gaming. If you can afford more it doesn't hurt but after a certain point it doesn't add any benefit. I've got 16GB in my system and even playing games maxed out it doesn't even come close to filling up.

8GB you'll be fine, 12-16GB will future proof you for a while. You only need like 32GB if you do a lot of video editing type stuff in addition to gaming.

In theory, more RAM is better, yes.

But only to a certain degree, depending on what you are using your PC for.

If all you do is gaming, 8GB is fine.

If you are multitasking or are a content-creator I would suggest getting at least 16GB.

Please quote me in any answers to my posts, so that I can read them easily and don´t forget about them. Thanks!

I love spending my time with PC tinkering, networking and server-stuff.

Without knowing specs....

As above 8GB is more then enough for gamers, assuming ofcourse thats all you do. If you also want to stream and video edit for game videos 16 is viable for example, but even then that is overall enough for most with only a relative small increase in cost.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

It depends on what Game and what settings you play.

Some games have nice graphics and lot of settings to boost quality and can use a lot of ram ( 6GB  8 GB ).
Having more Ram "secures" you from missing Ram when you launch application. It will not boost performance but it will save you from "running out of ram" if you run a heavy ram demanding program or games.

That said, 8 GB is a pretty good spot nowadays for gaming, 16 GB becoming more of a standart as the time goes. Ive seen BF1 use a lot of ram ( over 8GB )

on my system was pretty surprised tho.

Going up to 8GB is huge in some games and just for overall system use. When I ran Windows on 4GB it just felt like it dragged compared to 8GB. With RAM so cheap I would absolutely upgrade to 8GB right now.

8GB is not enough in some Games anymore. BF1 use up to 12GB and Planetside 8,2GB. Just two Examples. RAM isnt expensive. Upgrade to 16GB+ shouldnt be a Problem.

Agreed. 8 GB is sweet spot. 16 for people who dont care spending an extra 80$ for futur.

Also make sure you always have 2 sticks for dual channel. so 2X 4gb or 2X 8 gb , not 1 X 8 gb

You can get 16GB for 80$.
