Bottlenecking?

CPU:FX-8350

GPU: GTX 970 G1

MOBO: MSI 970 gaming

 

resolution 1920 x 1080

 

im playing battlefield 4 and only getting 30-40 FPS  on medium settings, ping is 33 AVG and all my 8 CPU corse are 100% so im apparently not using my gtx 970 how do i change it from using my igpu to dedicated gpu ?

you dont have an iGPU, if you arent using the dedicated GPU you diont have a display

i went in to display adapters and it says that my nivida gtx 970 is working properly ? why do i still only get 30 fps and my cpu is at 100% on all 8 cores?

Ok can you go to nvidia geforce experience and in game section, Battlefield 4, click optimize then try checking fps in game again.

done it man, im playing it right now with it and im getting 30ish fps, my gpu usage is on is 40%

Maybe GeForce Experience optimized the game for a higher resolution? It does that to me sometimes if you mess with the slider to optimize a game.

what's your cpu cooler?

 

if you have a cooler that cant keep the FX8350 happy it'll probably end up thermal throttling, and hold back the experience quite hugely.

Check both CPU/GPU temps and usage with MSI Afterburner to see what is going on in game.
