Hello community,

I have recently gotten tired of key jamming on my membrane keyboard and would like to upgrade to a mechanical keyboard or any keyboard where keys can't jam. I have an extremely low budget of 40 AUD and I would like for it to be off Ebay Australia or any Australian online shopping site. I have done a bit of research myself and found this keyboard- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/162165410644

Is that keyboard ok for its price? Or is there any better?

Thanks in advance.

If I were you I would look to buy used. kailh switches are also generally cheaper than cherry mx but anything can be found for cheap if it is used. About the keyboard that you found, I have never heard of it so I have no clue if it is good.

I'm just a random teenager from New Jersey. Why would you listen to me?

The used market for my area isn't the best especially when used costs a little less than new and any keyboard which is in my budget is similar to the one I linked.

I'd suggest the Eagletec KG010/11 but it seems to go for quite a bit more, twice your budget. Honestly cheaping out might not be the best idea for a mechanical keyboard. That said, in the US this is half the price of other mechanical boards, but its still way more than a membrane.

Is the Redragon K552 a good keyboard? I'm looking at spending a bit more and getting it.

It seems to get good reviews on Amazon (US), out of 257 reviews, it averages 4.5 stars. Also keep in mind you lack a number pad, and this can be annoying if you need it, like for calculator functions. Its one the reasons I decided to go with the Eagletec (which I JUST got).

It says the switches are like Greens but other reviewers put them at blues, thus probably noisy. Not much an issue for me since I'm using something along the lines of a blue. Sounds nice actually.

I'm not an accountant so number pads are just a waste of desk space anyways. Noise isn't as big of an issue as my PC fans usually overpower any other form of noise.

Thanks for your help, I'll be getting those soon. (Hoping that the postage to Australia won't murder my wallet)

Just found out its made by Eagletec, and after seeing the font on my KG010 and the K552, they are the exact same, I'm pleased with mine and I've only had for a mere hours so take it with a grain of salt... and its going from a 5 year old membrane to a mechanical, so alot of boards out there would feel better.

I think any keyboard will feel better than my cheapy century old K120 from Logitech (which I picked up for $5 AUD from a charity store) and most people say "damn dude $1500 build and 5 dollar keyboard"
