Hello LTT forums,

I'm looking to do an upgrade (more like a brand new build) because my system is becoming very far out of date.

The system I'm planning on building is going to be used for playing games and content consumtion and creation.

It is a bit overkill for what I need (1080p 60+ fps in most new titles) but it comes with alot of future proofing so I don't need to do any upgrades for quite some time.

It will be housed in a Corsair Carbide 300R as it is a fairly cheap case that also looks nice to me.

The rest of the build as follows.

CPU: Intel I5 6600K

MOBO: AS ROCK Fatal1ty B150

RAM: Kingston Hyper X Fury (16GB)

SSD: Crucial BX200 240gb

HDD: Existing 1tb WD Blue

PSU: EVGA 650 BQ 110-BQ-0650-V1 80+ BRONZE 650W Semi Modular (already owned in current system)

GPU: either a XFX Radeon RX 480 GTR OC 8GB or a EVGA Geforce GTX 1070 FTW DT

It will be powering a Viewsonic VX2457 24in Widescreen Gaming Monitor (already have this).

Open to any suggestions people have and modifications. Any suggestions can't be to pricy as I want to build this system by the end of the year and atm I'm cutting it close to have enough money saved to have it built by then if possible keep in mind that I have to order all my parts from this website.

https://www.pccasegear.com

Thanks in advance for anyone that makes it through all that rambling and gives me advice.

Change that PSU to anything from Seasonic/XFX (apart from the XT line as they are rubbish), EVGA B2, G2, T2, P2, GS, GQ, Corsair CXM (white/grey labels)/HXi/RMi/RMx/AX/AXi and you'll be golden ;)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

I forgot to specify the PSU in that system I already have in the system I have currently and after looking at it again it is the 650 watt vesion with on the PSU Tier list is considereal tier one plus I haven't had a problem with it in my current system.

You won't able to oc on b and h mobo. Get Z mobo instead. Or not drop for a i5-6600. For PSU check the PSU tier list

I didn't realise that. I will look at the extra cost for a z MOBO or I'll just get a 6500 non k

Imo get the 1070 and invest 50$ more to get a 144Hz monitor.

Also what PSU exactly do you wanna get? Dont cheap out on it.

I was looking more towards the 480 as it is much cheager for me  and I don't use the Phys-x and other features that the Nvdia cards have plus I already have the monitor and I like it. Another reason I was looking at the 480 was for the reason native free sync support on the card and there is free sync on the monitor.

Also in the original post I did not include a cooler as I'm not sure which one to get. I don't need a water cooler as this is only my second build and I'm not quite comfortable with that sort of thing yet. Just need a good cooler that won't be to loud and will keep the CPU at a reasonable operating temp.
