Default gateway

Hi, i want to set up my old router as a switch on my network. When i plug my computer into only the old router it is not a reconised device. If i go into ipconfig default gateway is blank. I can access the homepage of my router settings, it asks me to sign in with admin and the user and sky as the password. What can i do set it back to complete default settings like i have just got it.

You could try a 30/30/30 reset. Hold it down for 30 seconds, unplug while still holding it, wait another 30 seconds, plug it back in, and yet another 30 seconds of holding it down. Don't take it off and it should do a factory reset. This may or may not work, because it all depends on your router model and brand.

Tryed the whole 30!seconds thing and it did this

And its a netgear something or other, i cant get any information on it because i cant access it

So, you plug your computer into the secondary router (gone switch), you get no default gateway, but whilst still plugged into it, you can reach the original router's web page? Sounds like it could be worse...

I can reach router 2's homepage, but nothing else on the page, it just crashes

Err unplug it from router1, configure it as a L2 bridge (or at least disable it's DHCP server, allocate it an IP outside of router1s DHCP servers range) and see how you go from there.
