So I just bought a 16gb kit (2x8gb) to expand my 24gb (6x4gb) to 40gb. I bought a different kit because the old RAM wasn't available anymore.

Now I get this error in my bios saying that slot B1 and B2 are "abnormal". Both these slots have 4gb sticks in them and so I got 32gb working, with the 2 different sorts of ram.

Both the ram and the slots are working, I got them to work with 6x4gb configuration, so there is no hardware failure.

The configurations I tried:

  GBS
A1 4 8 8 4
A2 4 8 4 4
B1 4 4 4 8
B2 8 4 4 4
C1 4 4 8 4
C2 4 4 4 4
D1 4 4 4 8
D2 8 4 4 4
Total working: 28 32 24 24

Now I don't know if this error is caused by some bios setting or if it is the ram configuration.

The ram sticks are being recognized by all the slots.

If anyone could help me out and get this to work I would be very thankful!
