Hello! I'm an architect student graduating next year in Korea. I'm applying to several U.S. colleges to pursue a master's degree in architecture.

I do have a desktop computer here in Korea however, it's a big risk to carry a desktop PC on an airplane no matter how well the airlines handle fragile equipment.

So I've decided to sell the one I have here and buy a new one in the U.S. I'm planning on building a mid-ATX future-proofed gaming desktop PC.

I'm a very heavy gamer and love playing games that have amazing graphics such the Witcher 3.

I've done a lot of research and I've come up with a list of parts, however, the problem is I'm having trouble understanding voltage/power supplies and cooling and hoped people with more knowledge and understanding could help me out.

For those who don't know what programs architects use we use AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and Rhino3D to do our work.

The List: Trying to get a silver/platinum theme

Case: Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX Glass (Galaxy Silver)

Motherboard: MSI Z170A Gaming Titanium Edition (LGA1151)

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700k

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX X (Pascal) SLI + 2-Slot Geforce GTX SLI HB Bridge

Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (4X4) DDR4-3200

CPU Cooler: What I understand from my research, a build like this needs good cooling but I'm having trouble over what type of cooling system I should go for. Also even if I were to go for Air cooling I'm not sure what a good fan size speed is good for a build like this. I would love to watercool it but I have no idea how to do it (are there places that I can send my PC to get it done?).

Sound Card: Not a single clue on what to pick here. All I know is that I'm gonna watch a lot of movies in 4K.

Wireless Network Adapter: What card should I get if playing a lot of multiplayer games?

Monitor: What monitors are not ultra-wide but are curved and have a very thin bezel that are size +28 inches?

(Dual monitor setup)

Power Supply: I understand that the Watts have to be bigger than what your PC is using but then there's like silver, gold, platinum and so on. How much more of a higher watts capacity do I need on the power supply than the PC?

Are there any other parts missing that I should know? I would appreciate suggestion on how to make it look more silver/chrome/platinum themed.

So with modern motherboards you normally don't need a Sound Card, the 6700K doesn't come with a CPU cooler, for a no cop build go with water cooling, custom if you can, but if you want an AIO go with a good Corsair one, like the Corsair h110I GT. For a PSU, are you using 1 or 2 TITAN XP's? It looks like you are only having 1 but you have a SLI bridge listed.

Yes I'm gona run 2 XP's!
Also, why should watercooling be custom made? and If I can't custom make one where can I go to have it done?

You can often get better results, and it can look better but that's about it. I don't know of any places that you can bring in your computer and they will do custom water cooling, but you can call some of the local computer shops and ask.

With 2XP's I would say you would want a ~800+ watt PSU, up in the higher wattage PSU's you will want Gold or possibly Platinum certs, I would recommended the Corsair RM850i for its silent operation, high quality, and good customer support.

If you want to continue using the Korean version of Windows I would recommend picking it up before you leave the country.

Custom watercooling can look perform great and look absolutely stunning, but it's almost purely an enthusiast "Because I can" sort of thing that can get very expensive very quickly for very little value/money. At least at first you should start with air.

Also 2 Titan XP's? Do you need those for your architecture stuff? If not, you could save quite a bit of money scaling down to 1080's.

I don't know anything about architecture but I do remember seeing this http://pcpartpicker.com/b/vGf8TW a while back. Not saying you should copy the whole thing but might help looking at his reasoning.

The reason I chose two XP's is well, first, since I'm graduating next year during winter, we're all proabably guessing the price might go down by then. Second, I do play alot of games that are graphically demanding and even still I go the extra step to find mods for the game to just make the game more graphically gorgeous. Third, I also make video presentaions for architecture projects.

Here an update list:

Case: Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX Glass (Galaxy Silver)
Motherboard: MSI Z170A Gaming Titanium Edition (LGA1151)
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700k
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX X (Pascal) SLI + 2-Slot Geforce GTX SLI HB Bridge
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD X2
Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB DDR4-3200 (4X4)
Wireless: Asus PCE-AC68 PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter
Power Supply: Corsair RM850i 850Watt 80+ Gold Certified

I'm getting around 710 watts on http://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZR8k9W without two 4k monitors. Do I need a larger capacity power supply?

I feel like water cooling is the way to go with this build, however, I'm hesitant because I've never done it. How can I make the tubes look metallic silver?

CPU cooler - get a 240mm All-in-one (AIO) water cooler. They come pre-assembled and are easy enough to install yourself.

Sound card - unless you have very expensive audiophile speakers or headphones, the sound built into the motherboard is more than adequate.

Wireless - the simplest solution would be to get a motherboard that has WiFi built in. If you particularly want that MSI motherboard, then any brand name PCIe wireless adapter will do. I wouldn't recommend a USB dongle type.

Power supply - a good 80+ rated 750 watt power supply should do. Since you probably won't be directly paying an electricity bill, anything "bronze" or better will do. Such as

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

i5-6600, 16Gigs, ITX Corsair 250D, R9 390, 120Gig M.2 boot, 500Gig SATA SSD, no HDD

You don't NEED water cooling for good temperatures. Some CPU air coolers can get equal or even better temperatures than water.

Even if you really really want to go water cooling, remember you should always test the build on air first. And if you can't help yourself, research the *** out of water cooling.

I'm more likely to go for air cooling now. But for the CPU Im gonna watercool it with the Corsair H110I GT.

I've seen Linus replace the fans that come with the case with other ones. Is it necessary to do that with this buuild? Or are stock fans okay?

I was wondering if there were any parts on my build that you could recommend to make it cheaper, however, keeping the silver/metallic theme.

Also, how much do you guess will the price of 4k monitors drop by next year winter?

Stock fans are fine, aftermarket fans just generally look better and perform slightly better. Nothing huge, people just like having them. A chrome/metallic theme is bit tricky. Can't really think of anything.

As for 4k monitors, you mean like January right? Probably nothing huge, though you might get to see a few deals around the holidays.

Also this is on MassDrop right now https://www.massdrop.com/buy/lg-27-4k-freesync-monitor-27ud68p-b?referer=XJLUKT

though FreeSync won't work with Nvida GPU's. Not a bad thing, you just won't get to use the FreeSync part.

I'm probably buy it all around by december 2017~january2018ish. So I was wondering if 4k monitors, specially 30 inch ones, would have a big price drop because I'm not knowledgable about monitors. But for GPU's and skylake CPU's I know that prices are gonna drop because of skylake-e.

Oh around then? By that time AMD Zen will be out as well as their Vega 10 GPU's. In that case you should just wait until then to see what happens since you have plenty of time.

I looked them up and I am liking how AMD is trying to get back into the fight againt NVDIA. But wouldnt the prices be really of these two be similar to Titan XP today?

Even if AMD does make a better GPU or CPU I dont think that they would be so diferent. Or am I missing something that makes the AMD products a better choice?
