Hi everybody,

Our work computer is displaying error code "-501 0F." It's an iMac. I think it's running Mountain Lion. It does this at boot and just shows the Apple welcome screen with the error code. I'm most likely just going to do a system restore.

Nothing came up on a quick Google search so I thought I might as well ask.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Never saw this error. Have you tried booting into safe mode?

Not yet. They haven't paid me to do any work on it yet. Haha. It's a coworking space and I run my own computer repair business out of it

Ahh. Most of the start up errors are kernel panics or hardware failures from my experience with OsX. Wish they were clearer with their errors.

Yeah, there was no quick reference I could find on it. If they hire me I'm just going to do a system restore

You may not even have to do that much. Reset the smc and pram, and reseat any interchangeable hardware.

Yeah, good thoughts - I'll try that too. Would prefer if I didn't have to open it up but wouldn't mind

The only thing that could be reseated on the imac is the ram iirc. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes to open the sucker up and reseat the ram.
