is this normal?

So i started up my computer this afternoon and ASUS GPU Tweak is saying my not even one month old Strix 960 is running a 1288MHz when on the desktop.

i don't know what is wrong with it because i hadn't even launched a program at all when the monitor showed 1288MHz.

Plz help because i build this system like 3 weeks ago

I wouldn't get worried about this, the usage is at 0%. My GPU also spikes to full clock speed while using Chrome, which uses my iGPU. If it stays at that speed for a long time, there might be a problem with it's power states, but one that you may not even care enough to send it back since it's stuck at full clock and not idle clock.

The drivers might be keeping it running at full operation.

Its just that it even did it when on desktop with nothing open and it wasn't doing it yesterday

If it keeps stuck at that clock, try to uninstall your current driver with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to do a as fresh as possible installation of the new driver and see if that helps.

No. It just means the drivers might need to be reinstalled, but I would first try a system reboot.

I just opened Geforce Experience and it alerted me to a driver update. So hopefully this fixes it

thanks for the help guys, Turns out it was an out of date driver it is now idleing at 135 MHz. But thanks for the advice.
