Power supply?

I'd probably chuck in another 8GB of RAM and call it quits. The GTX 970 should still be capable for now to run smoothly at those aforementioned settings unless you're trying to utilise the full potential of that 144Hz refresh rate of your monitor.

If you want to try out 1080p 144Hz gaming, then the GTX 1070 should be a good choice. Otherwise, I still think the GTX 970 is good enough for achieving a constant 60FPS at high-max settings for the majority of games at 1080p.

Yeah, I've been considering that

Will the CPU bottleneck or is it good enough for a 1070?

CPU will not bottleneck a 1070 or 1080 since the GPU's won't work harder if they don't need to.

Budget for the upgrade? I would upgrade to 16 GB's of RAM and get a GTX 1070/1080.

Well no "real" budget at the moment, but not really in the market for a 5000$ card xD

Would a 1080 be worth it for 1080p gaming though? otherwise i'd have to get new monitor and such, and that means longer time to save up money,

i can save about 100-150$ a month for PC parts

The 1080 isn't really worth it for 1080p. I would go with the 1070 unless you plan on upgrading your monitor soon.

Don't really have any complaints on my current one, but i don't see why i couldn't upgrade. would have to save for quite a while though, but would be nice with 144hz 1440p

1080 with my system though? feels like it would bottleneck, not sure though :P

It wouldn't have to work as hard to draw the frames, but there is no bottleneck.

In this case, I'd get a 1070 and save the extra for an upgrade or buy the 1080 and use DSR whenever possible.

Probably gonna get a 1070 and 16gb ram then

Dynamic Super Resolution. You'll process frames in 1440 and then downscale them to 1080 for better draws.

Not sure what i should do/what's worth it the most, 1080 with 1440p monitor would be nice but that's almost a years worth of saving, 1070 i could get by the end of this year though

1070 is designed for 1440 and should have no issue hitting 60fps or more if you lower AA as it's inefficient when increasing the resolution.
