Majority of the build looks fine. I suggest getting a less overkill power supply unit such as this: https://www.pccasegear.com/products/33827/corsair-rm550x-modular-80-plus-gold-power-supply

Either of those motherboards will work fine.

Uh, no. That's DDR4.

Specifics, specifics... Is there Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM that runs at 3000MHz? The answer is no.

There is,Corsair Vengeance Extreme its not a single stick but it runs at 3000MHz

Ironically, he also didn't say it's the Corsair Vengeance Extreme. You'd be hard pressed to find it for $133 AUD.

At this point, we can safely assume it's DDR4 ;)

My points are as above. Maybe you'd like to end this debate by linking the specific memory you've chosen.

The cheaper one or whichever you like best. That would be the ASUS Z170-AR, correct?

yea the ar is :) sweet is there anything else i should note? i.e. is 6700k or 6800k better?

That depends. What sort of stuff are you planning to do on this computer? If you're getting a i7 6800K, you'll need a different motherboard.

So no rendering, virtual machines, animation etc.? I would pick the i7 6700K because it's the fastest 'gaming' CPU out there currently. You won't need the extra 2 cores of the i7 6800K.
