Go to solution Solved by Shubham Yadav,

For a gaming PC, you don't need an i7. Get a 6600k and spend the extra money on a GPU instead.

For 1080p, RX 480 and GTX 1060 are excellent options. For 1440p, go for GTX 1070.

I'm looking to build a gaming pc that can run games like Civ 5, Civ 6, XCOM 2, Gears of War 4, and Diablo 3. I'm shooting for high settings, ultra is not necessary.

I live in the US and have a budget around $2,000.

I will need to buy a monitor and keyboard.

Components I've been looking at:

Intel Core i7 6700k 8M Skylake Quad-Core 4.0 GHz LGA 1151 91W

ASUS Z170-A LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200

MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G

SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB SATA III

Seagate Desktop HDD 1TB 64MB Cache

Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case with white LED Fans

I'm missing a power supply and fans.

Get a RX480 instead of a 970 as it is newer and more powerful. For a PSU, I would recommend the EVGA 550W G2. You are also missing a CPU cooler, something like a hyper 212 is a good budget cooler, or if you want to overclock more, the Noctua D-14/15 are both good. You could easily fit a 1070 or 1080 in to that instead of a 970, but dont bother if only gaming at 1080p.

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

I should get an i5 6600k?

And I'm checking out the MSI GeForce GTX 1060 DirectX12 GTX 1060 GAMING X 3G 3GB 192-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16

Yeah, what resolution and framerate are you playing at. If it's more than 1080p 60 Hz, get a GTX 1070 instead. Otherwise 1060 is fine.

6600k is the best CPU for gaming.
