Before I begin, I'd like to say thank you for all those who'll help me with this. Any feedback - Suggestions is must appreciated.

To the main cause of this thread, I'd like to ask a question for advice. I plan on upgrading from my AMD 7870 to a higher tier GPU. However, my PC specs isn't the best, and by researching there will be a bottleneck with my system.

Current PC: VVVV

To continue forth, I do also plan on upgrading my CPU as well other components in the near future after purchasing the GPU. Although, should I upgrade these other components first? Or go ahead and purchase this GPU, and work on the others?

Here is another Spoiler which will end up being the PC after i'm done upgrading. Please keep in mind, that this is for various projects that I'd like to start doing (Editing, Streaming, High-End Gaming). Which is the reason for an I7, as well a 1070 to not only future proof my build by a couple years but also to get the best out of my games.

Spoiler

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($319.99 @ B&H)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($129.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($150.88 @ OutletPC)
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory  ($77.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card  ($439.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($94.99 @ Newegg)

So to sum it all up.

  • Q: Should I upgrade my 7870 to a GTX 1070 before upgrading my other components? (CPU, Motherboard, etc etc)
  • Q: In your past experiences perhaps, should I get the 1070 EVGA FTW Edition or thee SC Gaming ACX 3.0?
  • Q: Any suggestions or Feed-back? Any is appreciated.

editing, and streaming, high end games, say Overwatch, on it's max settings is a challenge in and of itself. if you are looking for 1080P at 144hz, or above, i'd more suggest the 1080 or a couple 980TI's in SLI instead.

I would upgrade your graphics card first, simply because it'll be the biggest jump in performance compared to the other upgrades, even tho a bottleneck will occur with your current CPU.
But if you're going to upgrade your CPU very soon anyway, then it shouldn't matter too much to you.

Yeah. I wouldn't say very soon, but it'll be a couple months after purchasing it. Simply this time around I have some extra money to spend, and really wanna upgrade my current gpu. However, will here be any damage if I do upgrade and have the bottleneck until I upgrade the cpu?

If you're asking if there's any risk involved, no. You'll just have have a few less frames

Oh, alright. Awesome. I don't mind losing few frames for a while when i'm basically probably doubling it with the gpu lol. But thanks for the replies. After the GPU then, i'll simply work on upgrading my CPU and such.
