Hi,

I'm writing this as I just installed a new game (Spec Ops : The Line) on my Linux PC and I'm very frustrated : most, if not all Linux ports have huge performance issues. I may not have the most powerful PC in the world, but my GTX 750 should allow me to play such games at 60 FPS on high settings (I've seen videos on YouTube). I can accept that driver and compatibility issues could impact the performance, but not being able to get a solid 30 FPS on medium settings is scandalous. It's almost the same story with pretty much all the demanding games I installed : Alien Isolation, Grid Autosport, Witcher 2 and Dirt Showdown. Only the lightest games can run smoothly, which is a shame. All my drivers are up to date of course, and even overclocking my GPU didn't help that much.

Some part of me knew it was to be expected, but as a big Linux user I kept hoping I would no longer Windows at all in the next years. The reality is cruel.

-as mod- the forum seems to have duped your post, so I've merged them.  Please edit the OP to be the one you want and I'll remove the second

-as replier- I've had the opportunity in the past tot play the same game on linux and windows on the same computer and the performance was basically identical.  Not saying this will be true for everyone or for every game, but that was my experience.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

First thing Linux is not meant for Gaming . Since you are big Linux user you should have known this .

I am a also a Linux user for years . But when i comes to gaming I prefer gaming . You may have one option to create a VM and install Windows into it and give it a try on that .

I copied what I believe was your more up-to-date version (Edited) and cleaned up the dup.  Feel free to edit again if you need to.  Nothing else to do; I took card of it :)

I cant even start with linux gaming dude. Since Ubuntu 13 or so. Every time I installed my AMD graphics drives, my pc would boot with black screen. This problem is there for me even in 14. Mine is a full AMD machine, it should work. But dang.

Have a look at this  :

Or else As i have mentioned earlier install VMWare Workstation or any other Virtualization Application on your Linux base and install windows guest VM into it . It should work .
