Do I need to replace heat-pad thingies?

if they are all intact, clean and in the correct positions, it should be fine.

Hey guys

I'm sure this is an easy one for you. I'm replacing my brother's laptop mobo. I remember hearing that you need to replace heat pads, i.e. these little blue things:

Is that true? Do I need to replace those before putting it back together?

I obvious know that I need to clean and reapply heat paste.

Thanks!

Yeah unless you really know what you're doing and have identical replacements (or material you know is the same width), don't mess with them.

I messed with them in my laptop, and it took me 2 or 3 orders of heat pad material from China before I finally was able to locate the precise thickness necessary to replace them.  The laptop was a crashy mess for months :(.
