Microsoft word Question

if i have Microsoft word 2003 files and i install a newer versions like 2013 what will happen to the 2003 files will they be updated to the newer version or become un usable please tell me thank you

2003 Word uses .doc file extension. Any MS Word from 2003 up till the latest 2016 can open .doc file. Nothing will happen with the old files. It will be opened normally. 

 

The problem could be that 2003 can not open newer files like .docx (uses from 2007 MS Office till 2016). But you are fine

Old files will remain as .doc. Only if you save them again, you can select newer file format.
