I need a Mechanical Keyboard and am looking for suggestions

  • I live in the United Stats
  • Under $80
  • Preferably non flashy and no "GAMER" written all over it
  • Cherry MX Red or Brown
  • Preferably sold on Amazon but not a requirement

Thanks in advance if you can find anything :)

don't get the g710+ I have had 4 of them break in a year due to the switches getting hard to press. Logitech will replace them but they are garbage I am thinking about setting mine on fire and recording it then sending it to logitech

cherry mx reds and brown.  different from the 710 iirc.  I have one and it's great :)  only white backlight.  Probably will drop in price at some point but even as is only $10 over.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

The G710(+)  goes on sale on AMazon for under $80 every month or two. The CM Storm keyboards are probably your best bet, though.

Thanks

Devil's advocate / Logitech shill : every product will have problems like that in time. You seem to just have bad luck. I've had my g710+ for 2 years and everything is still great. Same can be said for my friend w/ 3.5yrs.

do you want it to be full sized, or are you in the market for a TKL keyboard?

right now i'm using the Cm Storm Quickfire Rapid i, which uses Browns. for the price this board is a very sol;id option, with a nice non-flashy design, and subtle white backlighting!

How long have you had it for? Looks like another option to keep an eye on.

-Both full sized and TKL are fine, don't care if it's either one

Probably not up your alley, but hey. Worth a shot.

Not sure how to use the site, is there other colors like gray/black for that same keyboard?

I've been using the CM Storm devastator gaming bundle (mouse and keyboard). Personally I love the set and I've been using it for about 2 years.

It's really flashy imo, and it's not cherry mx switches, thanks for your input though

@GlassBomb Actually, I looked further and the one you suggested me was out of stock. But the website does have some good search filtering so I'll be using this to find other options. Thank you :)

Must've totally missed that it was out of stock (it was a returned unit). I only linked it because it's one of the few nice mechanical keyboards that can be had for under $80.
