Recently my PC has begun to randomly shut down, the three times I've witnessed it happening it had occurred during internet browsing and youtube videos.

Browser: Chrome

PC Spec sheet:

i5-4670K Stock clocks most of the time, max 4.5ghz at 1.28-1.30v

Gigabyte Z87X-HD3

2x4gb Klevv Genuine 1866mhz

EVGA GTX 1070 FTW ("stock" 2050mhz boost clocks)

Samsung 840 Evo 250gb SSD

1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue HDD

Corsair 650w PSU (dont remember actual name, took the stickers off cause it didnt go with build theme.)

I suspect either Memory or PSU, with low suspicion on the Ram or Mobo being the cause, I'm going to try and run memtest tonight to check the memory out.

Any input on similar issues with similar or different builds is very helpful, classes start in two weeks and I really cant be without my rig for too long, and im not exactly rolling in enough cash to fix it or upgrade right away.

Bad RAM (or incompatible RAM) and PSUs are the usual culprits.

Was the sticker on the psu green. If so then that is most likely the first suspect.

Also try removing your oc, and monitor the temps.

Hey there Rohki :)

I would start with the storage drive to ensure that the data is safe and that they are not causing this. A good way to test them is to use a tool from the manufacturer and to check the raw values of the S.M.A.R.T. status. For the WD Blue the proper tool would be WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic. Feel free to post the S.M.A.R.T. status of either of the drives if you are not sure how to read them.

Running a stress test and monitoring the temperatures is a good way to see where the problem is coming from. Also testing the memory and the PSU on the side should show you if they are causing the issues, as the guys suggested.

Try checking the system logs and see if there's any useful information there.

PSU was a 650W corsair with blue branding stickers. Guessing CX650 or similar.

I stress tested my CPU last night and did Cinebench and was getting low 400s stock clock to 569CB at 4.6ghz so I think cpu is fine. Albiet lower numbers then the wizards here online.

Going to test the different drives out tonight as you said. OS is on the SSD so I'd assume that would be the more likely culprit in terms of storage.

Still need to do the memtest, just glad it's not a cpu issue, can't afford more inflated Intel chips this year lol.

So, did you get any test results? Did the WD Blue pass both the quick and the extended tests?

The raw values of the S.M.A.R.T. status should show you if there are any hardware issues with your drives. Feel free to post those statuses here if you need help reading them.
