ARK dev. kit total conversion?

not sure if this is the right location for this topic, i mean it is software but it is from a game. anyways, my friends and i are working on a project, we are wanting to create a total conversion for the game ARK Survival Evolved with the development kit from epic games. i've got some experience with the dev kit and unreal engine 4 in general. though i do not know how to get the basics of a total conversion. because you most of the times start creating a map when you start it. so how to start and eventually create such total conversion??? a detailed description would be quite nice if possible. so long story short: How to create a total conversion in the ARK dev. kit??? any help would be really much appreciated. so thanks in advance.
