It's possible that the Auto for LLC is putting it at 4, which causes some massive droop (I know because I have that exact mobo). It would help explain why he can't go anywhere.

Possibly, but if core voltage is also still at Auto, I would have assumed it would compensate. Or at least be high enough that it wouldn't matter. I probably don't know how massive it is.

Slightly embarrassing side question: Is it weird that I didn't touch LLC on my Skylake system? I got to 4.5 GHz on my i5-6600K only adjusting the multiplier and the core voltage. I don't have to if I don't need to, right? :$

Have a 6700k can't get it to overclock past 4.1ghz any guide on how to over clock my cooler is a hyper t4 and my mono is listed below

What are you doing currently when overclocking? just bumping up the multiplier? You'll need to increase the voltage too, the higher the clock speed. (not huge bumps either, very minute ones each time).

Can you describe exactly what you've tried so far? Have you done anything other than changing the multiplier to 41 or 42? What are your temperatures, what software are you using to stress test, etc.

You're using a very modest cooler and obviously no overclock is ever guaranteed, but being stuck at only 100 MHz over stock is a little odd. I suppose it's possible it already needs higher voltage, but it seems a little soon for that.

It's possible that the Auto for LLC is putting it at 4, which causes some massive droop (I know because I have that exact mobo). It would help explain why he can't go anywhere.

In theory, your mobo should set it automatically for you, so that the voltage gets as close as possible to what you tell it. If it's doing nice, you don't need to touch it. You only really need to give it proper care if it's not doing what you want...

... HOWEVER, there's another way to tackle the problem. If the mobo is undershooting, then you can just increase your voltage and make up for it. For example, if I set it to 1.27 and it was dropping to 1.22 and causing instability, I could never realize the droop and just say "oh, 1.27 is unstable". Increase to 1.3 for a 1.25 drop and then you just got yourself a stable voltage without ever touching LLC. Likewise, LLC could be shooting things up; same idea in reverse.

So it's perfectly normal to never need to mess with LLC and still get a stable OC.

In my case, I knew I was limited on thermals. I would never reach that "hm, should I increase 0.1v for those extra 100mhz" moment, both my cooler and ambient temps were (and still are) potato. I have a rather low limit on my voltage. And I run my PC 24/7; in fact, it's crunching right now without me looking at it, so I can't really afford to have my mobo do whatever it wants, I need things to be constant.

As such, I've had to set my LLC. Lvl 4 undershoots, 3 slightly overshoots, 2 overshoots quite considerable, and 1... well, let's not go over it, shall we?
