I wanted to buy a new gaming headset to replace my Apple EarPods that i am currently using. I wanted one with a quick mute button on the mic (when skyping/gaming) and also retractable/detachable mic. I used my friend's Razer Kraken and it has both of what i need, but any other suggestions that are maybe cheaper? RGB is not necessary

Don't buy the Kraken's

Don't buy any low end headset.

If you want the best quality, you'd be better off spending about $80, getting a pair of $40-$50 headphones and a NW-800 and some other things ( sorry, give me a second to go find links )

NW-800 really only needs this (https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Sound-Box-USB-SBCV/dp/B002R33VWW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464292740&sr=8-1&keywords=sabrent+USB-SBCV&tag=linus21-20

The NW-800 should come with an XLR-3.5mm cable and a shock mount. If you want a mic arm, yeah, if you want even better quality, get a phantom PSU but the little USB sound card is all you need.

Depends on your budget, most gaming headsets have shit audio

A good solution is a nice pair of headphones and a mod mic

All i need is one that is just as good as the Apple EarPods. Im not a hardcore gamer, and since i am used to the sound quality from the EarPods my expectations are very low on sound quality. And since i am spending my own money, i want to keep the cost down to a minimum ($80 max)

Cloud cores are very good for the price and will sound 4 times better than your earpods and cost probably $35 in the states
