Display issues

Hey guys I have a ben q 27" 1920x1080 monitor plugged into a gtx 980 that is giving me some issues, sometimes after I've left my computer to sleep and the monitor turns off I come back and get it all going again its only displaying 800x600. I then have to shut my computer off sometimes a couple times to get it to go back to full display. I am using a display port on the monitor and graphics card and replaced the cord to make sure it wasn't that. I've also made sure all my drivers are up to date on my computer. At this point I'm all out of ideas on what to do so if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it
