Computer troubles

Recently I had put together my new PC, I had followed every guideline and rule that I had learned. I even watched a ton of PC build tutorials. I managed to put everything together the right way. When I turned on the power all the fans and lights turned on, but when connected to a monitor nothing appeared but a blank screen. I searched through forums trying to find an answer. I determined it was most likely a faulty motherboard, so I bought a new one and waited for its arrival. When I got my new MoBO I took apart the computer and did a quick swap of motherboards. When I started the PC up again it was just the same problem, fans and lights work but no boot screen on the monitor. I could really use help deciding what the problem could be. If any one could help me you would be a life saver.

You plugged the monitor into the GPU right? Also specs?

I dont a have a GPU yet, so its just plugged into the MotherBoard. 

MoBo: A68HM Grenade

Cpu: AMD Athlon x4 860k

Ram: Crucial Ballistix sport 8GB DDR3

Harddrive: Western Digital 1TB Blue

Powersupply: Corsair CX430M

Case: Cotsair 350D

Cpu Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo

Your CPU doesn't have a integrated gpu. Your mobo was fine. You need a video card.

Oh lordy I feel like a dummy.

I did the exact same thing with a FX chip on my 1st build. Put it all together. No video. Googled the chip. No igpu.. Didn't budget for a GPU even. I had to ask my friend to fork over $125 for a gpu. Everyone makes stupid mistakes. Don't worry. My life lessons are expensive.
